Raqs Al Moza

In 2008-2009, Talal Al-Muhanna has acted as dramaturge to San Francisco-based Director-Choreographer Yannis Adoniou on the stage production Raqs Al Moza.

The production was developed as part of Adoniou's Choreographic Fellowship at the MANCC Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography at Florida State University.

Title: Raqs Al Moza
Director/Choreographer: Yannis Adoniou / Kunst-Stoff Company
Workshop cast: Kara Davis & John Mercke.

Synopsis:  "Raqs al Moza" (which translates as "Banana Dance" from Arabic) is a dance theater piece about a boy and a girl in love during war times. It is a work about humor, breaking away from our habit, not only in art, but in much of society, to take ourselves and our work so seriously that we don't allow the natural impulse of laughter and delight to put things in perspective in the broad scope of our lives.

U.S. | World Premiere: San Francisco | June 12-14, 2009 @ Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Forum

European Premiere: Berlin | July 16-19, 2009 @ Dock 11
